Depends on the gas, but a lot of gases we currently emit are greenhouse gases (which are bad as they are helping the ‘greenhouse effect’). This includes gases produced from burning fossil fuels to create electricity.

In the air the percentages of gases are:

      Nitrogen- 78%
      Oxygen- 21%
Other gases such as helium, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen <1%

By burning fossil fuels eventually we will change the composition, so yes, gases can and do pollute the Earth.

Green house ones sadly do 🙁 driving cars, geenrating electricity through natural resources etc contribute to the greenhouse effect which is essentially polluting the earth. Not good. We are doing our best to cut it down across nations but not quick enough.

Nulear power and renewable energy needs to take a grip on society for us to really cut emissions down!
