Hair grows out of hair follicles, special structures in our skin. They are a mixture of cell types that contain the blood vessels, the pigment (for hair colour), the glands that produce the oil and a hair bulb. The hair bulb divides and produces layers of dead cells, that along with keratin is the hair itself.
Facial hair appears when the right mix of chemical signals (hormones) are delivered to the cells of your skin on your face.
