  The short answer is yes, we can make (charge) batteries that use solar energy. It is something call a solar charger and you can buy them from eBay, amazon and maplin etc…
  
  Eventually in 50 years time, the power socket in your house will be powered by green (renewable) energy so you can simply charge your battery in your house that comes from solar.
