The cells in our brain fire all the time. When something happens in the world a group of these neurons (how the brain in our brains are called) fire together. This causes them to connect to each other. This connection is the basis for our memory. From that moment onwards when something activates one of these neurons it will activate the rest and so the memory will be evoked.
