      I’m looking at a redshift of 3, which is roughy a look back time (i.e how far back in time we are looking) of 10Gyr which is 10*10^9 10,000,000,000 years ago. So using light years as it takes that long to for the light to get to us; andromeda (our nearest galaxy) is 2,583,000 light years away so that makes a z~3 1000 times further away from andromeda
