I was in Sierra Leone for 5 weeks, I worked in a lab in Kerry Town in an Ebola treatment centre run by the charity Save the Children. It was quite strange and a little bit scary when we first arrived, but as soon as we got into the lab we felt right at home. We were able to test lots of samples and send lots of people home with an all clear certificate to say they didn’t have the virus. We also confirmed some people were very ill with Ebola. I think we helped. When we left there were no cases, but unfortunately a few days later, there was another outbreak and the number of cases went up again. Some of my friends are out there now trying to help.
