Our star (the sun) is tiny compared to some of the giants out there!

We classify a star mass by comparing it to our stars mass. So our star is 1 solar mass, and stars range from 0.1 solar masses (just) to about 146 solar masses. Bigger the star – more heat depending on where it is in it’s life cycle!

So a definite yes to that.

Interestingly if you replaced our sun with a blackhole of equal gravitational strength we would still orbit it like it had never changed.. it would just be colder and darker!

Jupiter wasn’t far off being a star either, albeit it would of been a small one and not strong enough for our needs at all.
