0 Question: what chemicals is acid made of ? Keywords: chemical, molecule, pH Asked by Sonny to Claire, Liad, Ruth, Ryan, Mako on 19 Jun 2015.
Tat Ming Mako Ng answered on 19 Jun 2015:
Acids are proton donors, something that like giving away its protons.
Protons, or hydrogen ions (symbol: H+), is the stuff that makes acids taste sour.
For example: Vinegar has the formular CH3COOH. When it dissolves in water, it becomes CH3COO- and H+, so it is an acid.
