The hardest thing for me was making the decision of keeping it up, it was that or play sport to a high level but in the end i opted for science

The best things i’ve done is where i’ve gone to teach and trying to inspire future scientists! If i can just get 1 or 2 from this to be inspired that adds to my career and drives me on.

The hardest thing is to walk away from a question you don’t know the answer for. There is a protein that we’ve been trying to figure out its function for years, but no answer yet. We’ve decided to stop for a while and work on something else. It is really hard to walk away, but in science you have to sometimes. The best thing would be to suddenly have a brilliant idea and be able to prove what this protein does actually do.
