We have blood to transport oxygen so our muscles and organs can work! 2

Your blood is very important as it moves oxygen all around your body, which keeps your cells alive and means that your organs can do their job! Your blood also carries white blood cells, which are the cells that fight nasty bugs and infections.
Because blood is pumped to every bit of your body it is useful to carry hormones and chemical messages from the brain to other parts of the body.
Did you know the average 10 year old has 3.3 litres of blood? That’s the same as about 14 glasses of water!

Blood is a useful liquid that is able to travel all around your body. It carries the oxygen, food, cells that fight disease and waste products to even the furthest parts.
