      there’s a lot of iron in the rocks on mars surface! Over millions of years these have eroded by winds etc which causes iron rusting (have you ever seen our bike rusty, it’s red!) This red dust has been blow around by ancient volcanos and has covered the whole surface of mars so it looks red
